I actually has similar thoughts recently, i think you're onto something, although very believable, it's still very contoversial. You've probably heard the quote from bill hicks at the end of his positive LSD story, talking of a collective consciousness.

yeah this life was made so we could find our souls ... its the overall birth of life...death(final life) was made for life(birth/creation of our souls)
