The reason for standardising resistance for heavyweights and lightweights is so any two rowers of the same weight class are being measured under as similar equipment as possible. Resistance levels reflect the fact that lightweights can rate higher, whereas heavyweights have more brute strength! Setup alone will not make a 10sec difference over 2km, you are probably just improving!
I am a heavy weight novice rower... I did a 2k test today and improved my time by 10 seconds.. BUT im wondering if this was because the drag factor was set on lightweight!?
