We did this band back squat variation this summer as one of our final progressions during explosive concentric lifting. We simply lowered the bar under control and focused on exploding vertically as fast as humanly possible. We did approx 6 -8 sets of 3 reps with full rest between sets. Great exercise for expressing power output & generating great concentric force. Always remember, power potential and power capacity must be trained equally as they are NOT one and the same. Our program used explosive power exercises to increase power output but also worked on increasing the cardiac capacity of the heart to sustain that power for the duration of competition.
