you have to hear knowles play live to be able to say anything about his tone, he has a good sound, this is just a crappy recording. plus look at the song?? its a reaaaally old song, and would be stripped of its "classic" title if it was over distorted or overdriven. his tone did get worse in my opinion when he started playing the PRS instead of the strat.. but thats just me. still awesome.. like it better than when clapton played it.
