My 2002 KLR 650 Diesel running. Finally got it running had to clean petcock and lines due to biodiesel setting for several months. This is "sparky's" bike he designed. I look to build off of what he as done so far.

It will soon be painted to look like the Marines HDT model.

  • Yes we definitely need to meet up. I have been busy starting a BioFuel company so have not had much free time.

  • The engine is the DEK F420. I don't drive on the highway, not licensed!! Sparky took this into the mountains of Colorado from Dallas and said he estimated over 130mpg

  • AWESOME!!!

    REALLY?

This is truly great if this is true!

  • @ToiletFinger why is it not true?? check out suckindiesel site, this is nothing special. Just a diesel bike like everyone else is building.

  • So how does it perform riding around town and on the highway?

I want to build one too. Right after I get through doing the Versey Conversion.

The sections I made to replace the lower frame on the KLR for the Versey engine look a lot like the ones you made. They still allow the use of the Heavy Duty aftermarket skid plates.Looks like I won't have to reinvent that part of the wheel anyway.

  • @CurtisDrew1 rides about 70 MPH on highway at 3000 RPM. I'm changing it to be more for use on my ranch (power for up and down slight hills)

  • wow... I didn't know they made diesel bikes. now I want a bike but my mom won't let me. dang parents. they said insurance would go up to much. 130mpg is amazing though. maybe it wold be worth it.

  • @O7ROADKING yep.. but this bike should get at least 90 to 110mpg at even highway speeds so that definately offsets the higher price of the fuel

  • @toiletFinger like Guy says see suckingdieselDOTcom/thingy

  • BTW- how does that engine like sitting at 3000rpm?? aka.... will it sustain 70mph w/out over streaching the engine? I forget which engine you got in that.

  • @CurtisDrew1 Yep Yep to @guycompton. I'm w/Curtis. Lets get together!!!!!

  • @guycompton That is Bad Ass! I had no idea there was such a thing! I have always wanted one of these. I've never thought about a diesel KLR 650. Too Awesome!

  • Wow 70! That's great. Would love to meet up someday since you're local and get to know you. CoachGeo and I have a pair of Triumph Tigers here at my shop now we are going to convert to diesel next year. If you ever ride down 407 to Justin you go right by my house.

Was starting to think you fell off the planet Guy.

  • @Drphalgun19 make biodiesel yourself, it only costs me 22 cents a gallon.

I get my oil for free from local resturants, barrel of methanol $88 and sodium hydroxide $8 a 50lb bag.

Automated machine makes PERFECT bio in 13 hours. Passes all ASTM standards, 70% cleaner than ANY diesel you can buy.
