TV9 - MINISTER SHOBHA KARANDLAJE TURNS CLIMBER.............!


Energy minister Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday climbed 1,000 steps to the top Chamundi Hill here on Sunday to fulfil her sankalpa vrata, a vow.

With Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa facing a political crisis yet again, Karandlaje's hill climb had some significance to it. The minister, however, refuted any connection with the current crisis.

"During every Ashadha and Navaratri, it has been my practice to climb the hill", she said. "I will pray to the goddess for the victory of good over evil. The government should complete its term", she said.

Seemingly brimming with energy, the minister arrived at the foot of the hill around 6.15 am.

Accompanied by her sister Shashikala, brother Lakshmana and his wife Supreetha, besides a host of local BJP leaders, the minister embarked on the ritual. Soon after reaching Nandi statue, she offered pooja to the idol and resumed the journey and reached the hill top around 7.10 am.

The minister is a staunch believer in rituals and undertook many a ritual fast in past. Whenever the BJP-run state government was in crisis, she would undertake a fruits-only diet to ward off the danger. The minister had followed the same ritual as in-charge minister of Mysore district, during Dasara and Panchalinga Darshana at Talkad.

When her attention was drawn to reports that she could be among the putative successors to Yeddyurappa, Karandlaje replied with a wide smile: "Let the incumbent continue."
