  • Daniel hau toked yaunpi he!

I must add a bit more here, Endangered languages are a big concern these days.

you should google: "Nipiit magazine" and read on page 22 Puujjut Kusugak's great article on conserving the Inuktitut language.

It is titled "the gift that never breaks"

The Inuit people are moving mountains to conserve their language by teaching it full time in the first three years of school.

    Tokiya yaun he?

It is great that you take your language and culture seriously,

I send prizes to Inuit schools in Canada as encouragement to the students for their diligence in learning Inuktitut.Ociciya wacin do.

    Anpetu wasteyuha,...

    Now...Wanna wayawa iyaya wo!

  • That was excellent.

    Hau toked yaunpi he?

I am from Australia...tanyan waun do.

I personally see the issue of promoting the retention of the Dakota language as an identity issue. I believe that maintaining the use of their forbearer's language affirms and strengthens the identity of the student as an Indian.

I admire your enthusiasm to retain your language and culture.

I wish you all the best

    Pidamayapi ye

    Bob

  • Really good. I'm learning Lakota, I wish there was more vids about it.

  • I wish I could speak Dakota as well as he. :) I've only recently begun learning it, but I'm not sure how fast I'll be able to pick it up since I'm 18.
