On Saturday November 4th, 2006 National Labor Committee (NLC) Bangladesh staff and leaders of the women's and labor rights organization Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity (BCWS) were stopped by the police while attempting to meet with workers from the Harvest Rich factory - which produces for Hanes, Wal-Mart, JC Penney, Puma, Tesco and Marks and Spencer.
After meeting Harvest Rich workers and attempting to return to
Dhaka, they were stopped by the Harvest Rich management at 10:30 p.m. who blocked and surrounded their van using the pretext that a car had been stolen in the neighborhood. The police arrived shortly after, and Raton Roy, the Harvest Rich general manager present at the scene, threatened that he would "hang them" and insisted that the human right activists be "given capital punishment" for "damaging our factory."
NLC and BCWS human rights activists Babul, Kolpana, and Rafiq recount the frightening experience.

And you can all help in this struggle by getting involved. Tell those around you who may not be aware what is going on.
