  • I can't stand the pedantic and slow delivery of this movie, but this is a well chosen clip. Sapolsky is a boss.

  • In large number the genetic factors are deterministic. IN small numbers there is room for nurture and environmental manipulation. The problem is a poor understanding of statistics by people that make the arguments. All it takes is a small , even minute genetic predisposition for something in a population group and when large samples of that group are taken the trend is glaringly obvious. Sapolsky knows this but for political reasons he's downplaying it.

  • I'm glad he addressed the topic of addiction as being about more than just drugs. Having experienced drug addiction in the past myself and been close to someone with a severe eating disorder, I could identify the signs of addiction in my friend's eating disordered behavior. When I mentioned this to her, it was like a light bulb went on over her head. When she started treating her disorder as an addiction as well as an eating disorder, things began to change for the better.

  • Nurture dictates Nature.

  • @DeltaNordicAdvance Are you sure? Can you give exemples?

  • @breedapart51229 What do you mean with misleading? The movie talks about a lot of things other than epigenetics...

  • This whole Zeitgeist thing seems very misleading. I suggest you watch Dr. Robert Sapolsky's Stanford lectures instead.

  • These scientists have good genes.

  • This guy is deliberately misleading. A study showed that if you knocked out a gene, learning drops, and the media picked it up. His response is that in a special environment, this deficit is overcome, but doesn't say how. A kid with down syndrome can be said to "overcome" his deficit learning multiplication tables by spending 4 times as long as a normal child does. Is that what he means by "overcoming the deficit"? Don't know. It's impossibly vague.
