  • Assyrians and the Syrian Orthodox both use "Classical Syriac" for their services-however, they use slightly different alphabets and have slightly different pronunciation. Assyrian (or Eastern Syriac) is the more authentic form. The Syrian Orthodox pronounce the Allap as an "O." Of course the modern dialects of Aramaic-Modern Assyrian Aramaic and Turyoyo (or Suryoyo) used by the Syrian Orthodox are different from Classical Aramaic.
