Carl talks about the resemblance between himself and Ryan, if you look; Rachel tells Carl he's out of his mind. Carl says Ryan is much more like his mother, especially in the way he commits himself to everything he does. Then Carl waxes poetic about Justine to Rachel, summing up by saying that she was his match, and they could have explored the world together, much like Rachel and Mac did. When Rachel points out that Justine had a husband who was the father of her children, Carl says he didn't know if she was anybody's wife and it wouldn't have mattered if she was anybody's wife anyway. Carl admits it upsets him even now to think that she felt obliged to go home to Spencer the money-grubber. Rachel points out that Spencer was her husband and the father of her children. Carl corrects her, saying, "Father of her oldest child, maybe." Carl says if he'd known there was a child, he would have given her anything she wanted, any life she wanted for the three of them. Rachel asks if Justine had any idea what he did for a living. Carl asks if Rachel is suggesting that's why Justine disappeared, and Rachel says it's a possibility. Carl tells Rachel about the Libra file, and that that's how he found out Ryan is his son, and that Ryan is a magnificent gift. Rachel says she doubts Ryan will see it that way, and Carl says it will take Ryan time to get used to it. Rachel is horrified that Carl has already told Ryan, and asks Carl what he's planning. Ignoring the question, Carl asks if he can tell Rachel a secret: the first time he laid eyes on Ryan, he secretly admired Ryan, his intelligence, his nerve. And ironically, Ryan was his own unknown son. Rachel tells Carl she doesn't think Ryan will share Carl's admiration. Carl tells Rachel to give him time. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
This is the Cory stable. Rachel found Carl passed out on the floor.
