@Tacos0421 That seems to be common in this film. Big fail to the movie prop guys.

@Doinghisbest I couldn't agree with you more. I'm 30 and can still remember going to see movies in the 80's and 90's when what you saw on screen looked so much more raw and realistic. Too many movies these days use cartoonish CGI that is too easy to spot as fake. The Star Wars prequels could have been so much more if they had been made as films were 20 years ago.

@Doinghisbest Plenty of proper movies being made these days. Don't let bias cloud your judgement.

COOL SCENE
-
This scene was cut because John Carpenter thought it made Snake to sympathetic. I like the scene but the movie works a lot better without it showing Snake as the anti-hero who doesn't give a fuck about anything.

@vetegrodd The way he moves reminds me of the way the raptors move in Jurassic Park.
Anyway, it must have been hard for Kurt to run and jump in those heavy looking boots at first.

does anyone know if you can listen to the soundtrack that starts at the begining of the video

I love John Carpenters Films, their so eirey & raw, Presinct 13 is possibly my favourite, you cant beat the 16 bit sound track. The bullet hit in this clip is so direct & powerful, it almost seems real.

john carpenter cut this scene from the theatrical release because he felt that if he left it in the audience would associate snake with being a common criminal right from the start and that wouldnt allow them to connect with him and root for him as the hero

did anyone notice there are no hand guards on the M16's
@primepm
I'm old enough to have gone to see Escape From New York when it was first released. I was so lucky to have grown up in a time when mainstream movies weren't all computerized and over-edited, and when film making was PHYSICAL instead of digital.
It's really great to hear people much younger than me are enjoying and being inspired by pre-CGI movies like this one. It gives an old fart like me hope that one day you'll all start making movies - PROPER movies - and save cinema from dying.

I'm amazed of how smooth Snake moves, especially when he runs, a bit like Rambo but much more graceful! Action-heros nowdays should learn how to run with style like this
