  • The gourd dance is of Kiowa origin, period. There might be gourd dancing going on in Colorado, Arizona or any pow-wow in Oklahoma, but the songs and the dance come from the Kiowa people. You can be told all kinds of interesting and fascinating tales from other tribes across the land about gourd dancing, but it is soley and originally a Kiowa traditional dance.

  • @kiowastylz So it is A Carnegie thing and for Marines.... Never heard of it being a Kiowa Thing or being mentioned as Kiowa Tradition for This Being Done. Im pretty sure I would have known and had a clue of it if it was a KIOWA THING. Again thanks for your knowledge.

  • Should we be fighting the whiteman's military instead of singing for them?????????????????

  • @ZelbeQahi i agree this is of Kiowa origin. I myself am N. Ponca, Omaha(Umo Ho) tribe we came from and i know the Sheridans and how the Gourd Dance was past down to us from the Kiowa to honor. I am a

gourd Dancer and it is what i do every opportunity that i get here in Omaha ,Lincoln, Macy, or whatever organization holds a Gourd Dance. We also acknowledge this fact that is of Kiowa origin and we adhere to Kiowa protocol Aho!
