In his general audience today in the Paul VI Hall, in front of about 6,000 faithful, Benedict XVI expressed his "deep regret at the impossibility of sharing the Eucharistic table" with still divided Christians. Presenting the annual Week of Prayer for Christian unity, the Pope added that "this is a painful experience that gives a penitential dimension to our prayer."
