Flatland. Randall Niles uses the famous illustration of a two-dimensional world to show the power of one extra dimension, including the possibility for the Miracles of Jesus.

As a young child, Michio Kaku spent hours watching carp at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco. He imagined the pond as an entire, two-dimensional universe, where the carp could only swim forwards and backwards, left and right. The concept of up, beyond the lily pads, was totally alien to them.

Michio wondered, What if I could reach down and grab a carp and lift him up into my universe? What a wondrous story the carp would tell the others! He would babble on about new laws of physics and unbelieveable creatures that move without fins and breathe without gills. However, without such a visit to the third dimension, how could a thinking carp know anything about the unseen world above?

One day it rained, and Michio saw the drops form ripples on the surface of the pond. Then he understood. The carp could see the rippling shadows. The third dimension was invisible to them, but vibrations in this dimension were clearly visible. The ripples might even be felt by the carp, who would invent scientific concepts such as light and gravity to help describe the unseen force. Of course, the other carp in the pond would laugh at the notion, since carp know theres no force at all, just the rippling of the water.

Today, Michio Kaku believes we are the carp swimming in our tiny pond, blissfully unaware of invisible universes hovering just above us in hyperspace. As described on his self-named website, 21st century physicists can now see and feel the ripples, and Michio is leading the charge towards a scientific formula that explains it all -- the Theory of Everything as Einstein called it. He is the leading scientist in superstring theory, a 10-dimensional model of unseen strings vibrating at the quantum level that provides a unification of all forces in the cosmos.

Maybe even a glimpse into the mind of God... Maybe a glimmer into the possibility of the Miracles of Jesus.

  • If the apologetics thing don't work out for you, you could always fall back on your artistic skills :-) (sorry, couldn't resist)

  • Thanks buddy!

Speaking of art, I still need to find a home for your Switchfooty "All About God" theme song --

  • @rapjbr you'll never win over anyone by just saiyng " we are to stupid to understand god therefore we must have faith" you have to tell people why and in a new and exciting way like " we must have faith and be askign For God to come into our lives becasue once he does he will give us the proof so we many no longer havet o simply use faith but we will have the proof we want.

  • @reflect7 ive had this video in my favorites for over 3 years and now finally i have a use for it in a project in my college class my project is based on the Flatland book you mention.

  • So you believe in science? In this case in the string theory. How about the big bang theory and the age of the universe and evolution. Do you believe in this too? It is science ... Or do you just take what confirms your religious belief?

  • Extradimensionality? LOL. But yeah, from what I know, I agree with you.

  • You're RIGHT; the concepts of extra spatial dimensions are just as much bull shit as your god theories. If you actually knew physics you would realize that "dimensions" are quantitative measurements and not realms of other realities of existence! It appears that some of you whack-o's have infiltrated the science community without being properly challenged. Brian Greene must be one of you religious freaks with a PhD in physics!

BTW: it is NOT mathematically proven!

  • Jesus is Lord! We really don't know the supremacy of God in our limited mind that percieves only three dimensions. Faith is required of us!

    Blessings!

  • but we are not 1 dimensional. nothing is one dimensional- one dimensional doesn't exist- cause they wouldn't even see each other- one dimension has no height-

    interesting hypothetical attempt though.

  • If you can't (as you say) "fathom (these extra dimensions) with my own pea brain", why discuss the implications?

To quote you again, "do you see the disconnect here?"

To make a connection between extra dimensions and the divinity of Jesus is complete intellectual dishonesty and a typical of ID and creationist advocates.

However, I do get the feeling you sincerely believe there is a connection here, and so I must ask you to humble yourself before you go too far.

  • Very Mind opening. Doesn't Prove Jesus was the son of god, or if he even existed as the Bible says.

Jesus may have been doing these "miracles", but they're not miracles. Maybe a being outside of our dimensions able to do things beyond human comprehension, but back then people didn't understand Quantum physics or any type of science like we do now.

Their answer would have been God. We now have the potential to learn the truth.

Don't let yourself say its god and leave it at that. Think.
