Always push the sharpening stone downwards, because you are pushing the metal burr upwards, creating a nasty edge, when you have the downward motion, you a naturally pushing the metal towards the blade steel making for a far better finish. I know those sharpeners are very expensive, I use a Lansky, but would love one of those, still fairly good video.
nice video and thank you for making it. i have been looking at all the info on youtube about it and hadnt found any videos other than the clay allison produced ones and yours is much appreciated. have you discovered anything about it that you don't like or would want to improve on? how many points out of 10 would you give it? what do you think of the 2nd generation wicked edge vs. the 1rst generation ones?
thats the point of the finger grooves. you put your fingers in those grooves, and they wont be cut
