http://www.lucaslagoons.com presents a video of outdoor designer Lucas Congdon showing us the process of building a Lucas Lagoon from the initial outdoor design to the final lagoon style swimming pool which includes stone waterfalls, an 8 person grotto, and a custom swimming pool slide all built using only natural stone. During the building process, you can see huge boulders being set with the crane, it's a fascinating process to watch. This lagoon style swimming pool was designed and built by outdoor designer Lucas Congdon of Lucas Lagoons, Inc. in Sarasota, Florida.

  • Thank you. I will let the videographer know that her work is appreciated. It really helps when the projects are so beautiful.

  • Thanks for your question. Actually no for two reasons. First palm root balls are very compact and secondly the tube is filled with dirt so the tendency of the roots is to grow down to ground water.

  • We can build something for you in Albany. As far as price goes each project is unique and the price depends on a lot of different factors--size, complexity, type and availability of rock, etc. The one in this video which is very large and took over 180 tons of rock was around $500K. If you want more specific information it would be best to call the office 941-366-7700.

  • Good question. The grotto rock is over 14' wide-and the area covering the grotto at the top is only about 6' wide, so even if the rock were to split completely in half it would not move. Also this lagoon is built in South west Florida where freezes are extremely rare--but the construction technique would work in the north. Lucas learned his craft in Vermont.
