In depths of deep blue sea glides a gentle flat shadow

Second tech-demo found on EUR/U.K Demo One disc.

While this might not appear as cool as the dinosaur demo, MantaRay successfully illustrates how 3d-graphics are capable of creating wonderful ambience and mood.

Nice blue hues with mellow music make me feel relaxed, how about you?

Note this video is captured from REAL Sony Playstation, not from PSone, PS2, PS3 or from any kind of emulator crap - but from the original grey box that you need to position right in order for the laserdisc drive to work properly.

  • I just gotta ask.... Do games look better on the PS (the original big gray one) than they do on the PSone (Smaller, white)? Because i used to own the original PS, but sold it oh so long ago... Recently i picked up a second-hand PSone (it was cheaper than the PS) and i find that every game looks alot more pixellated than i remember.....

  • @Terryracoon You probably just have better, sharper and bigger TV now.

  • Dont really like your Desc.

I still have 2 Working PS1's, 2 PS2 (big and slim) and a PS3. Butt i do emu. to sometimes because there's lots off great PS games that i have misd like (Tombi,Blood lines,Kula World,...).

And it seems the best way to enjoy them.

  • Yeah, but emulators don't show 100% how game was meant to work. Even PS2 fails to emulate somethings perfectly.

  • You can now purchase old ps1 games on the ps3 via the ps3 store. And to my knowledge there are no inaccuracities. The games play, load and feel just as the real old ps1. I also have 2 original playstation. one pal and the other pal with a chip so I could play burned and american(ntsc) games. The memories.

  • @svendsor

Software emulation on ps3 might accurate but even ps2 with ps1 parts fails on some rare occasions. These things are almost unnoticeable or appear as 'glitches' - like for example in Roller Cage stage 2, ps2 fails to show menus same way as in ps1.

  • @captainvideoblogger Nah, emulation the isn't perfect. Squaresoft games always seem to cause problems. I'm playing through Final Fantasy VII on my PS3 just through laziness and there are quite a few graphical glitches and boundary boxes not being transparent on certain doors and backgrounds.

Also VIII doesn't even boot up! Maybe my crappy PS3 version but it just sticks at a black screen. So I just use the PS1 for it which I got for £2 in Gamestation with a dual shock! =D

  • pamiętam to jak dziś :)

  • Am I the only one that finds this music pretty disturbing? Thriller material...

    Brings back so many memories...

  • @BoxxyFan sorry how old are you?

  • the music is almost making me weep

is it somewhere else than in this demo?

  • If that ain't epic, what is?

  • @Snow3103 It was a stingray what killed Steve.

This animal is the Manta Ray and is bigger then the stingray... ;)

    Greeting :)
