Respect.

To think all the shit that he went through. Other stronger lions, disease, hyenas, dangerous prey, humans hunting etc. And at the end he was one of the few that die peacefully lying on the soft grass of mother Earth.

To die like this is really a feat considering what these animals go through on a regular basis.

@K2quared yeah, that's really interesting, haven't seen other hyenas doing that with other prey. Maybe it's an expression of contempt, hatred, and/or triumph? "Ha, you were so tough in your day, terrorizing us, and NOW—you're just dead meat!" Perhaps the flip side of lions killing but NOT eating hyenas.

OTOH, mebbe the fur just feels good on the backs of their necks. ;)

That's sad, when the male lion becomes weak and can no longer maintain his dominance over the pride, he will surely die. That is sad that he can't go out with a final fight, but instead dies of starvation.
