@jamesvln08 great sounding car dude. do you think it will sound similar if do that to 528i
-
sounds awesome man!
-
@Scartissue84 it will pass inspection for emissions all the emissions control is in the cats

just did mine on a 2003 540ia m sport. i took out the Y resonator and one muffler. left the oem muffler on with 3' inch piping free flow. not loud at all but gives it that aggresive V8 sound. and if i want to go louder all i have to do is buy another muffler :) worked out great cost about $100

I have an 01 540i can I still make the mod and will it pass inspection?
-
I want to do the same thing to mine where can I buy the Y resonator?

Sounds great! I have a 99 540i Sport and need to do something. How much did it cost you to do these mods?
-
@freshlikeuhhh9 Deletes are free if you know how to weld.
-
how much did this cost you to do ?? around 100-150$ ??
@ib1p,
Thanks and no, the I6s (M52, M54) sound nothing like a V8 (M62) with this mod.
There are tons of video clips of 528s with all sorts of exhaust mods here on YT. Do a search and you can decide for yourself.

The mod cost a little over $100.00 USD. It drones a bit under load at about 1600 rpm but sounds relatively quiet at highway speeds unless you go WOT.
I'm considering installing a bullet resonator to replace the Y resonator.
