http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1007266 This video steps you through expanding a VMDK and extending a partition using DiskPart. Essentially, this allows for expanding the virtual disk for virtual machines in VMware ESX.

  • Hey thats a Very Good Video.

But can you explain, how to increase/extend hard disk size of either C: (System Drive) or E:\ Drive on Single VMDK file.( i.e having Single VMDK file with two partition)

  • @vipal123 You can use the same process. First expand the VMDK so that there is additional space presented to the guest OS installed inside the VMDK. Then choose which specific partition (C or E) you want to extend (add additional space to).

  • Can you do a video on this for a linux distro?

  • Partition manager wizard is really a good thing, MiniTool partition manager wizard is a good choice for you. It is easy to use and it is efficient. Some editions are FREEEEE. Any of you who need it can have a try.

  • how to go about doing the same if guest os is linux?? just use mkpart or parted?

  • very very nice !

  • Thanks so much!
