Two hikers describe the much-prized Hen of the Woods (Grifola frondosa) specimen they found 10/8 along the Nipmuck Trail in the Yale Woods in northeastern CT. This mushroom can grow as big as 40-50 pounds and is known for having a fabulous flavor, being great for cooking and possessing immune-enhancing and cancer-preventing qualities.
