  • Hey Greg;I would say you have to get new plumbers because plumbers do not just take their best guess most of the time.I have worked in this trade for quite sometime now and if I was just guessing I would not be working. If centre lines are layed out properly and wall measurements are given; then there should be no mistakes. It's called taking pride in your work.My motto is "do it nice or do it twice".I believe your wording could be a little different on this one.I enjoy your vids.Keep trucking..Al

  • @TheOldkid888 I couldn't agree more and it's nice to hear from someone who sounds like they have been in the business, long enough to know better. I worked with a guy at one time who wouldn't let me double check his work and it created problems for us on every job. Sometimes it isn't all about checking something twice, but having someone else check your work.

  • I think you need to get better plumbers. Especially since it is just residential or light commercial work. Any one of the 14 apprentices I served my time with could have laid this out correctly in their second yr(most before the end of their first)

  • @83rugger You could be right but people make mistakes and if you have been in the business as long as I have, you better start knocking on some wood.

  • @gregvancom only 25 yrs and well aware people make mistakes......and to make mistakes is ok, but double check your math , your layout and your cuts before you glue, solder, weld etc...

  • @83rugger I've got to be honest, I'm not defending the plumbers. I've had to work around other trades mistakes for years and you are absolutely right. The old measure twice and cut once, could eliminate a problem that could cause the contractor or a lot of money. Thanks again for your comments.

  • @highdesertdawg You know there's a lot of truth in almost everything you said, thanks for your comments. Some architects and engineers, really don't put enough time in the project and leave everything else up to the contractor who leaves set up to his foreman, who ends up passing the buck to the workers.

  • This problem can be easily fixed by coordination with the framers and the plumbers. Get both foreman and lay out there plans side by side, and make sure all the plumbing dimensions match up inside framing walls. Everybody always wants to blame the hands when stuff like this happens but alot of times its the engineer/architect or just failure to communicate between the trades/supervision.
