some may like miracle on 34th street or home alone for holiday viewing but alas the season woould not be complete without a viewing of kings and desperate men.
@OnslowThurston the boys first spoken words at movies conclusion are I liked the big man. I didnt like the other man. if you have not already done so you may wish to check out the google group colony3.
@diggerodell100 Oh yes, I have often had this movie playing in the background while doing other things. By the way, what does the boy (their son) say at the very end of the film? I've never been able to figure it out!!! Please help!
@OnslowThurston the music was composed by michel robidoux and pierre brault, would be nice if score was available. the god rest you merry gentlemen scene between mcgoohan and kanner is also priceless. sometime just listen to the audio of this movie, it plays very well that way too. its all good.
@diggerodell100 Agree about the music. The montage showing the cops warming their hands and the small boy throwing papers in the snow is hands down my favorite musical montage in any film.
@OnslowThurston one of my favorite movies from mcgoohan to the plot to the music. there is a very good article written by rosemary camilleri that was published by sixofone back in 93 plus an interview with kanner. these may soon be posted on a prisoner website. well worth reading.
This film, which was WAY ahead of its time, was never given the reception it deserved. It was released in 1981, but was actually filmed in the 70s. Almost all the dialogue was adlibbed. McGoohan and Kanner were drunk the whole time. McGoohan was apparently very difficult to be around. Marcovicci recently stated that at one point she hurled a glass ashtray at him. Kanner sued when Diehard came out, claiming it was a rip off of this film!
Wow. Thanks for posting. This is one of my all-time favorite films. I have watched it many, many, many times and yet I have never met another person who has seen it. I believe I have read everything there is to be found about this film on the Internet, which isn't much! Several years ago I wrote an extensive, 10-or-so-page review of it, interpreting what to me were the many political messages laced throughout the film, which are very similar to McGoohan's The Prisoner.
I wish this was available on DVD (in the UK). I haven't seen it for years.
