WOW. Beautiful. You brought me to tears. Powerful song and excellent montage. I hope Richard sees it. I think he'd be proud.

How can you not cry when listening to this song?

Looking at these pictures it proves that Karen Carpenter was a nice looking girl .
A wonderful singer with the voice of an angel . A songstress of ballads who will forever be remembered for the many unforgettable work that Karen and Richard worked so hard to achieve while Karen's life on earth was short .
I don't know what has happened to ballads in this day in age. It looks like music ballads have dried up.

Thanks for this beautifully put together posting David. Lovely sound clarity & your pics are nice except for the wedding photos. I would have prefered that they never again see the light of day, a totally forgetable episode in Karen's life purely for whom she married. We K & R fans are very clear on this. - Steve

Karen gives this song it's soul. Absolutely beautiful recording and one that should have been a major hit on mainstream radio. Motownboy, you always deliver the best quality videos on Youtube, especially the Carpenters and I want to thank you for sharing these amazing recordings with everyone. This song always came across to me as one of Karen's best recordings and very easily describes what she was probably feeling during her marriage to Tom Burris (Bastard gold digger). I miss her terribly.

God Tom Burris was is such a scum bag... What he did to Karen was unbelievable and he ought be ashamed of himself. He took every thing he could get from her drained her bank accounts and had the nerve to call her a "bag of bones" at one point. The marriage to him was the straw that broke the camels back. All I can say is I hope Tom rots in Hell once he's gone...

This is exactly the same key that the CD and the LP version were recorded in. There is no variance to speak of. Nice transfer, though I might have de-clicked slightly. Adobe Audition does a fantastic job of that.

Thanks, actually I did use Adobe Audition. This is "de-clicked." The few click sounds you hear are actually on the song and can be heard on the stereo version - mostly the sound of Karen's mouth so close to the microphone.

This is a touch lower than the original key. I gues the turntable wasn't set at exactly 33.05 rpm.
Do you know when was the picture at 2:26 taken. Looks like it was taken soon before her death. She looks good and well on her way to full recovery there. Such a shame that her heart fell weak...

I transferred this from the QUAD LP on quartz locked direct drive Technics turntable. The playback turntable speed was correct. Keep in mind that CD-4 quad LPs are cut at approx 1/3 the normal speed and the corresponding tape machine needs to be slowed down at exactly the same ratio to be able to record the 45K carrier signal. It is possible that there may have been a slight variance in ratio between the tape playback machine and the disc cutting machine in this extra step.
