The colorful still images were taken over a 2 day period as I awaited treatment for a rapidly growing spider bite infection under the skin of my eyebrow. I couldn't get a walk-in appointment to see my busy doctor whose staff sent me to the emergency room. The ER doctor prescribed antibiotics, sent me home with instructions to apply hot compresses, and return to the emergency room in 2 days.

2 days later(!), new ER doctor with a new tactic for the now calcifying abscess. He made an office visit appointment for me with another doctor in another town.

Now, I know what a hot potato feels like.
And yes, I looked like one too.

I'm self-employed, self insured (my premiums doubled in the last year), 2 emergency room and 1 office visit later, $1270 out of pocket. Is it any surprise the ER visits won't be applied to my deductible of $2500?
