This song has a HUGE amount of meaning for me. My mother, who died of cancer over 20 years ago used to sing this to me when I was a child, also, my father (they divorced when I was very young), myself and my father's girlfriend all sang this together while driving to their place in Quebec. Love this more than just about any song I can think of.

Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes
Et que la nuit rencontre le jour
Je suis seul avec mes rêves sur la montagne
Une voix me rappelle toujours

@RobertaDuncan1 : as something is very beautifull it is also very dangerous. Like to see the sunshine on the mountains. You know Canadians came to Europe to put little flags on peoples graves from 50 years before. Nobody else do that. I listen a lot to this song. Sorry for what happened. But you have to take care of yourself.
Things happen.

@dreamertje01 correction "...aux montagnes"
-
@dreamertje01 No it isn't: the correct title is "Quand le soleil dit bonjour au montagne"

Nice memory from my youth.I have been doing some research on the title because I thought it was "Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes". Wrong and correct. The original single which was released in 1964 in Canada only bears the title "The Frech song". It is only when it was released in the US that "Quand le soleil dit bonjour aux montagnes" was added in between brackets.

My son died on a mountain in south america 2 years ago. Ever since I was a little girl I listened to this song and it always made me sad - like a premonition or something very emotional was going to happen. It did. When I heard this song again on the radio recently, I understand and relate to it completely. RMD

I've heard this all my childhood - Love it still.
Is this song actually called "The French Song"? I doubt that it is and I want to get the song but I need the proper title. Anyone know?
