Drivin' Nails In My Coffin [Johi2410]

Lately, I've listened to Ernest Tubb a lot. What a great entertainer that man was. So I ended up trying to record several songs of his in that great inimitable style, but realized I could neither filch Leon Rhodes' amazing guitar licks, nor play the runs of either of the Buddys on steel.
That's why I started all over again and recorded this timeless drinking song in my own way, and I guess it came out a lot better than if I had tried to cover it as close to the original as possible. Anyways: I'd have had to start smoking BIG TIME to even get an inch closer to that legendary voice, so I had to change the plan ;-).

Johi, I was away from YT so long you've probably forgotten me which would be very understandable, but I well remember your deep baritone and great covers of Johnny Cash numbers. I have to say that baritone is also very well suited to Ernest's songs. You did a tremendous job on this old country classic, and your guitar skills have really grown since I first subbed you too. I don't recall that you played the steel back then. Is that a fairly recent skill for you?
