Why is Freedom so difficult to explain? Why are we so willing to purchase software with limitations? It seems to me that proprietary software is something like purchasing pre-printed stationary that only allows the buyer to only write in pre alloted spaces. And then hides the method and denies the purchaser the means to create their own forms so the corporation can profit by making the user weaker.
It is difficult to explain because to non-programmers the problem is less evident. It is not something non-programmers face in their everyday life, so the whole thing is easy to dismiss. Coders are usually more responsive or at least understand what is it all about.
