Steve Yzerman is the best player of all time and Fedorov has nothing to do with it at all.

On putting his number in the rafters I have mixed feelings. Talent wise he may be better than all of the other red wings in the rafters, but I agree that he took some plays off throughout his career. He could have had a lot more points. He was mad at bowman for playing defense because of his stats most likely. I feel what you are saying on the money issue and wish he was still a wing. There may be some truth to what he is saying, but at this point it holds no weight.

I understand some of what you are saying. I'll put it out there that fedorov was my favorite player to watch because of the obvious... speed etc. I was young at this time and didn't realize how stupid he was at times. Maybe some players were jealous of anna or his natural abilities, but to say it at this point seems ridiculous. He seemed to want control of the team over yzerman which was a hard thing for him.
His number will be put up in the rafters, and deservingly so. doesn't matter what you say or do, only thing that matters is how you played the game, and everyone knows without Sergei, Yzerman would still be a 1 sided player, Fedorov pushed Yzerman to become a complete player, we can thank Yzerman for having pride and not passing the torch, Who wouldn't be jealous of this guy, he had it all, fastest skater, hardest shot, who isn t jealous of that, every hockey player wants that!

I wouldn't hold my breath on that. I believe it does matter what kind of person you are when it comes the the Detroit Red Wings and having your number retired. Im also a bit confused as to how Fedorov was credited with making Yzerman a complete player...I always thought it was bowman and his defensive minded system. I admit he had some qualities most would be jealous of... But he was selfish and his numbers suffered for it. He could of been better..as a player..and a person

Oh yea I won't ever say he doesn't have any talent. I loved watching him play. but him as a person, not so much. Yzerman too was a natural goal scorer until bowman came along with his system. But Yzerman knew it was for the better of the team and after winning the Cup it was like "who cares about personal stats".
Now Im sure there were some players jealous of him from time to time but that happens on every team. To say a whole team was jealous and basicly out ot get him..a little over the top
