  • i would love to do this type of stuff for a living

  • You need to know where to take metal off and the proper amounts. It looks simple and if you know some basics, it's not hard but if you don't know what you're doing, you can ruin a perfectly good set of cylinder heads.

  • can you do it with the head currently on the motor? exhaust port

  • only polish the combustion chamber of the head with a dremel and brush attachment not grind cause you will lose compression and avoid the valve seats.. Lighly grind and port only the exhaust ports for better flow of exhaust gases but usually on the intake ports you should avoid and not make smooth since the surface has a rough surface from factory to keep fuel molecules suspended tumbling in air for better aspiration and combustion.. Porting to much and you will lose power that the truth!

  • It costs over $2000 dollars because the equipment they use is expensive and needs to be paid off. Also, machine shops don't exactly get the same populations of customers that a corner shop does, so they need to make enough to pay the rent and their employees. That's why it costs $2000, if it's even that much. I just got my Crank fluxed and ground, and my block cleaned and honed for around $175.

  • @hpdeskjetd1660 So, the people that have been doing this for the past 50 years without a flow bench have always made their cars slower? I wonder why they kept doing it than...

  • this video is bullshit!!! you can make your car slower if you do it like that!To do it right you need a flow bench so you know to get the right flow out of your head. why do you think it costr over 2000$ to do a head right!! its not like this guy right here!

  • @curtknows101 1992 Mazda Miata. my uncle has a spare head and I work at a car dealership. one of the mechanics said he has ported a few and said he would teach me if i had a head.

  • @curtknows101 When you change the airflow it also changes the fuel rate and mixture, a carb and your fine, throttle body you probably jus get a light and keep trucking, computer controlled port injection and you very well may get thrown into a limp home mode, transmission shift probs, idle, rich or lean, the whole shebang may and prob will go down the tubes, port the heads and take it to a tuner and he will be able to dyno tune the programmer and your set to enjoy a few more ponies!!!

  • @MrSweetleaf92 Depends on the year of the vehicle, it may throw a code that will come and go, the maf is set and works with the computer and all of the information is set to work within certain parameters, by porting you will change the airflow dramatically just as if you were to put in a hotter cam, certainly cant tell you 100 percent without knowing the vehicle, but more than likely you will get a check engine light, and that doesnt mean that the engine will run worse, or wont, hope ths helps

  • @curtknows101 100% will or maybe?
