Alex Acuña told Brian Glasser, "I think my favorite [track on Heavy Weather] is 'Havona.' That, for me, is how I always want to play, that kind of a conversation. When I hear that tune, I still get the chills. Everything was improvised in that moment--it's almost no overdubs."

Ingrid Pastorius, Jaco's widow, thinks he must have written "Havona" after he started reading The Urantia Book. In that book Havona is a special place, and Ingrid says it has been described as follows : Paradise lies at the center of Havona, a perfect universe consisting of one billion spheres of unimagined beauty". This universe was created in perfection, not evolved. Havona is a source of perfect love, beauty, and satisfaction."Guess his solo pretty much says the same thing," says Ingrid....

saw Weather Report in 1978. This is their best era. brilliant piece of music, album and very nice editing of photos. Lot of work there.

Awesome video editing!!!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Jaco in Beverly Hills on Wilshire Blvd with a buddy back when we were in high school (1980's). We took pictures with him on the street doing that iconic "thumb" pose, then we sat with him while he and his trumpet player ate a quick salad before his show with the "Word OF Mouth Big Band" I saw "God" that day. He was my modern day "Jimmy Hendricks" By the way, to his credit, he was not high, very focused, laid back and cool.

I used to listen to this on the way gone from working in a music shop thinking 'these are the chords of life; beautiful, humorous, sad, joyous....' My fave WR tune for so many reasons.
