I don't think they tried to "outsing" each other. Mezzo's and Soprano's have different ranges, and project their voices differently.

Its great but I dont enjoy the singers changing octaves here and there, but this was still great, just like today.

I assume you're referring to the riots? The riots was conducted by only the scummiest of the scum who have nothing to do with our culture such as the superb proms. It was tragic to watch the the riots but it was also heart warming to see that there where more people in the city of London who where actually clearing up afterwards. Greetings to the US :)

I like this version. As a yank I dont know the words. The words of "Rule Britannia" at the bottom is very nice.
