In this episode I discuss how programming in Emacs is different than an IDE, and show a couple of short examples of how you can program in a REPL in Emacs Lisp and Scheme.

I didn't cover quite as much as I hoped, so I might do a more technical in-depth episode on REPL usage.

  • Rick, nice video and even nicer is your functional Guile code. Go named lets and srfi-1!!! :)

  • great job with this one as with all your videos in the hack emacs series. may i put in a vote for a video that shows working with git with a small example that depicts a typical work flow. thanks

  • Emacs REPL tutorial showing elisp code to record the tutorial, totally lispy ;)

  • There's any shortcut to copy the last repl text we entered (for example a defun) into the upper buffer (my file)?

  • Nice video! I'd like to see two other videos: one where you hack your .emacs file and reload it while tweaking your config (e.g. to setup anything.el), and another one where you write a Clojure program from scratch.

I think the pacing and length is about right. Good job!
