The true power of a great culture, in this modern time is not so much what is said, but how it translates and is conveyed to heritage and modern living.
The year 2007 kick-starts a very significant period and time in the history of Black/African Global Culture and Heritage around the world and in the Great Britain.
The Talking drums have an important role in all aspects of African life. The drums are traditionally used at very significant periods in African culture. They announce new births and are used in ancestral worship, rites of passage, healing, storytelling, communicating over long distances, warrior rites and initiation at the time of death.
The talking drum (aka dondo, adondo, atumpan, or gan gan) is a variable pitch pressure drum has been used for centuries as a tool for communication within and between West African rural communities. By squeezing and beating the drum simultaneously, the dondo can be made to mimic the syllables and intonations of human speech.

Lekan Babalola is one of the most extraordinary percussionists in jazz and world music today. He started his career playing in the Yoruba christian church owned by his father, Olayiwola Babalola. As his skills as a master percussionist grew, he was invited to join Gasperlawal in 1980. His career continues with performances with the likes of Fela Kuti, Ernest Ranglin, Roy Ayers, Tony Allen, Branford Marsalis. Pinse Saul, Queen Salawa, Abeni, Axelle Red, Kllb Band, Bola Are, Jean Toussaint, Tessa Souter.
