I upload this clip as visual aid for discussion purposes.
Here are 2 "kata" from Muay thai Chaiyuth. A traditional and ancient form of Muay thai (Muay Boran) as taught by Thai living national treasure Chakraphob Charoenrat.
In it you can also see many techniques normally sneered at by Muay thai practitioner when they are trained by other traditional arts like karate, kungfu or TKD, such as the high X-block.

It is not called a kata since that is a Japanese word, but that it what it is in all but name. You get to see the single form practice and the 2-person application practice.
It is not quite as formalized & ritualized as Japanese Kata, but you have to be blind not to see the relationship between the two training methods.

  • I thought that Chaiyuth was a combination of different ancient styles because it has boxing walks from diffrent styles of ancient muay thai. Could you post the part with the boxing walks.

  • @sdjudoka Youtube user chingonraza already have a clip on it from the same video series, called "Thai Boxing Walks". Atleast for me it is in the related videos list to this videoclip.

  • @Rizape i dissagre my friend, thailand never had conflicts with china, only with birmania, but you are right..using the vitla presuure pints of kung fu can easily beat a muay thai opponent, but if this opponent has knowledge of muay boran...kung fu is usless...

  • @hiperdeco09 Doubt it

  • its more powerful than kung fu, the elbows and knees dosen´t use in the kung fu forms

  • interesting...it looks quite effective and very useful...

  • @MegaCocoman it seems siilar to kung fu beause kung fu was made to beat muay boran

  • THIS IS REAL MUAY THAI!!!!! it seems so similar to kung fu...

  • Whats the name of this dvd?

  • @jjhaywood Yeah, just with slightly different and more elbows and knees, but othwerwise I was thinking the same thing!

  • buakaw is awesome, he fights similar to bruce lee, jet li, and ong bak, and he looks similar to nosferatu zodd, and akuma. i wanna c muay thai vs muay boran someday.
