Huacachina Oasis, Peru - Dune Buggy and Sand Boarding

Dune Buggy and Sand Boarding Tour at the Huacachina Oasis in Peru.

This was the second day of my South American trip - 30 April 2010.

Huacachina is built around a small natural lake in the desert. Called the "oasis of America," it serves as a resort for local families from the nearby city of Ica, and increasingly as an attraction for tourists drawn by the sports of sandboarding and taking dune buggy rides on sand dunes that stretch several hundred feet high.

Legend holds that the lagoon was created when a beautiful native princess was apprehended at her bath by a young hunter. She fled, leaving the pool of water she had been bathing in to become the lagoon. The folds of her mantle, streaming behind her as she ran, became the surrounding sand dunes. And the woman herself is rumored to still live in the oasis as a mermaid.

Dune Buggy Tour de surf en la arena y en el Oasis de Huacachina, en Perú.

Este fue el segundo día de mi viaje por América del Sur - 30 de abril de 2010.

Huacachina es construido alrededor de un pequeño lago natural en el desierto. Llamado el "oasis de América", que sirve como un recurso para las familias locales de la vecina ciudad de Ica, y cada vez más como una atracción para los turistas atraídos por los deportes de sandboard y tomar paseos en buggy por las dunas de arena que se extienden a varios cientos de metros de altura .

La leyenda sostiene que la laguna se creó cuando una hermosa princesa indígena fue detenido en su bañera por un joven cazador. Ella huyó, dejando a la piscina de agua que había estado bañando en convertirse en la laguna. Los pliegues de su manto, la transmisión a su espalda mientras corría, se convirtió en las dunas de arena circundante. Y la mujer se se rumorea que viven todavía en el oasis como una sirena.
