Saw the Tonight Show in person Sept 1,1977 I was 22 and what a memorable night!
Missed a Cubs @ Dodgers game but had a Los angeles adventure apart from the Phoebe Medow tour

Why has no one ever uploaded his 1965 LP, High - Wide & Wonderful? Doc plays 2 trumpets at the same time on every track & is just awesome.
-
Not a Jazz trumpeter? Weird comment as most of his playing was Jazz or as the lead player for a Big/Stage band. But I get what you mean anyway!
-
6 hours a day practice + gigs will do that to you! lol
-
His embouchure is like a rock !
-
You should check out the clips of him with Billy Taylor. You wouldn't believe it! Doc playing Bebop from like 1957!
-
Another thing about him is that he may be playing a note that is not really that high, but his sounds really makes it sound like it is...very "Bravura".
-
Doc is probably one of the greatest all around trumpet that there has ever been,i.e, beautiful tone, range, tonguing and he can also play the classical repetoire. I've never considered Doc to really be a jazz trumpet player.

You will get more views if you correct Doc's name.
Severin SEN.
Thanks for posting. Cane you boost the audio?

This is a nic vid of Doc, i've been a fan of his for a long while. But in reality, that Airmen trumpet section is monsterous. I bet they could all pull this off just as well as doc. Ive seen current vids of them with some lead guy macdonald. He is wicked. so was Vaughn Nark. i wish they'd get featured more.

Thanks Jazzy Bugler! I'll change it when I have a minute.
