Nah, no worries. I meant it with a chuckle. When the discussion turns to football, if there is'nt a Bills fan around I can't say too much as my Vikings where just horrid in their SB's.
I'm also from the south...way down ,as in South Florida. We'd also play for hours ,I was the only one with the Vikings helmet. Never snowed, but if it got down to 45 for a few hrs,and you could see your breath , it was as if we where at Met Stadium.Oh to be a boy dreaming of gridiron glory !
Football back then was pretty basic. They basically stay with their base offenses or defenses. There were no motion, substitute packages, formation shifts, shotgun formations, etc. It's just a physicall brand of football. Tom Landry started the shotgun formation, while Don Coryell and Bill Walsh started the motions and formation shifts to create matchups to their advantage. I love football because you can see how the game evolve.
While I agree the Raiders have had their share of questionable calls, they have also benefitted from a few questionable calls. Stabler threw the ball forward on the holy roller, instant replay would have gone against them I think. What about the roughing call against the Pats in the 70's that was questionable at best. Great Raider teams but 5 or 6 Lombardies? I dont know But then again that is what makes this game great, we love our teams and will argue over games that were played 40 years ago!!
@6400az Sorry, they were truly great. Groiwing up in the south my friends and I would be glued to the TV any time the Vikings would play in the snow at metropolitan stadium. On the few occasions it would snow here we would go down to the school and play football in the snow. One team would be the Packers and the other would be the Vikings!!
Hey dipshit steeler fans, the reason the refs gave them that immaculate deception game was they were fearful of getting killed by all them redneck fans on the sideline if they reversed the call. Shows how homefield is an advantage.
A lot of bad calls against the Raiders in their history, a shame they didn't have coaches challenges and replays back then otherwise they most likely would have 5 or 6 SB trophies in their showcase.
@ 04:00......That's a joke right, not one of the announcers?
