@remedave Isandlwana was by no means 'the worst defeat in British colonial history'. It was, however, the greatest African victory over a colonial power - which is where your perspective comes from. But you're right, if RD had been a basketball game the Zulus may well have escaped defeat. Very good observation, that.

@bantermelon In additiom to Haley's contention to tracing his ancestry to a specific tribe and village being refuted by the Africans he interviewed, Haley was sued by Alex Courlander (a white authour) for plagiarizing his novel "The African", written over ten years before "Roots". Haley settled out of court, admitting taking substantial sections from Courlander's book.

@bantermelon You're wasting your time arguing with a black American Krakka - especially about Africa. Most black Americans know very little about it other than what they saw on 'Roots' (which is all they want to know) that piece of tele-drama being 'taught' to Americans as actual History - which isn't as hard on the brain as reading books. Interesting how Haley's novel was discredited right after he died by the very same people who lauded it when it came out - spec. The Village Voice.
