This video is a response to those who complain about match 27 in the Nexuiz 2.5.1 campaign mode, saying that the map is impossible.

The map requires players to finish a lap in 33.3 seconds to progress. I finished this map within the required time purely by bunny hopping. I can finish around 5 to 6 seconds faster when I use other technques for gaining speed. This is me playing in the vid.

  • dat framerate

  • yep, same for me - i've been holding jump and running around... i can't reach finish line under 44s just by bunny-hopping. And it cannot be about me jumping the wrong way from acceleration panel, when i reach it its already past 36s.

  • assuming one is holding down the spacebar, and holding forward, what could possibly slow people down?

  • Nexuiz has a built in video recorder, and it does not have an auto-cutoff. :)

Go to the input menu, and bind a key to "toggle recording .avi". It's in the User Defined keybinds.

  • I'm assuming you were using subpar movement techniques. The speed you can develop with proper bunny hopping tehniques is truly astounding.

  • Oops, typo error:

recording the video took longer than the lap itself took to make*.

  • I ran the lap while recording a demo, then I played back the demo file while recording it to an OGV video.

This is a resource intensive process, so recording the video took longer than the video itself took to make.

The timer merely displays the time needed to finish recording, while the lap was legitimately completed in 30.8 seconds. Good observation though. :)

  • as it should be with no weps

  • Nice, great idea to use only part of the speed ramp!
