Lab Rats was the first ever televised sperm race broadcast in 2004. A true television first, one man's sperm against another resulting in a photo-finish with great dramatic impact.

Volunteers Dr Mike Leahy and comedian Zeron Gibson each agreed to give a sample to take part in the race. Scientists from The Open University then measured their male parts to see how they shaped up before starting the race to discover who had the fastest, fittest, strongest sperm. The race was filmed under a microscope inside two tiny glass capillary tubes, but screened in a pub in front of a cheering crowd.
