I think what teaClocks means is that a memory like this would be so well suppressed and protected within Jennifer's psyche, that its' s a well guarded memory. The creatures are an invention of Jennifer and here they are especially diligent from keeping her from something, she must fight hard to get to it(and therefore remember). Many people who have seen traumatic things develop blocks that appear to be beyond their conscious control, this is no different in my opinion.

It's her tennis outfit! Save a completed game, and start a new game from that save, and you can access the 4-leaf clover room where you can change her clothes.

A thought: though it's unrelated to the video, could the reason the path to the Mermaid Room is so convoluted be that it's one of Jennifer's darkest memories? Considering what she saw - or might've seen - I'd say so.

Ideas like that proposed by teaClocks are quite interesting to contemplate, but, like all proposed meanings of symbols, hard to establish as being true.
I could propose that the Mermaid Princess chapter is set in the tail of the airship because its theme concerns "tail" (that is, sex). It fits. But did the game-makers truly have that in mind? Who knows, other than the game-makers themselves?
