Robert Egger Gives a Tour of DC Central Kitchen

DC Central Kitchen is based within the biggest homeless shelter in the United States. It, on averages, produces about 5,000 meals per day - some hot and ready to eat and some which need to be re-heated or can be eaten at room temperature.

Much of the food is donated by restaurants and other sources which have hygienic and unused food which they no longer have a use for. DC Central Kitchen repurposes this food and distributes them to those in need.

  • LOVE THAT MAN!

  • right on man

  • take no prisoners, no holds barred, drug treatment, home placement, social enterprise, cool rockin' badass machine of love .... Epic Win. Focusing on the logistic and economic nightmare of the job, this man obviously has a head for the help that must come through. Thanks for sharing Shawn, and I hope the guy gets the many props he deserves.

  • I like how he said "how do we engage them to come in and talk to our counselors... and food has power.... food can be a transormative thing" It is very similar to the "soup, soap, and salvation" mantra of the Salvation Army! He's not reinventing the wheel, hes doing a phenomenal job of coordinating the logistics !Love that they included LOCALLY Grown Produce! Thanks for making this video. its a "BADASS machine of LOVE! "
