You can dress this up anyway you like, but the so called fee-for-carriage is a tax on TV viewers with absolutely no benefit, said Jim Shaw, CEO and Vice-Chairman of Shaw. We applaud Minister Moore for directing the CRTC to put affordability and the needs of consumers first.
Hearings on the matter are scheduled for November 16, 2009, and December 7, 2009.
Its not over yet!
The CRTC has already introduced a tax in the form of a 1.5% levy called the Local Programming Improvement Fund (LPIF). There is still a chance the fee-for-carriage tax could be implemented.
Before November 2, 2009, write a letter to Minister Moore, your MP and the CRTC, telling them to support Canadian consumers and kill the proposed tax: http://ebayincome.com/Presents/crtc
BULLSHIT just another ploy to get more people to buy their services but anyway....... INTERNET TAX IS COMING SOON!!!

Imagine that, my tax dollars from a proposed tax-fee, going to help boost the profits of Private Broadcasters and already funded Public Broadcasting. This proposed tax is nothing but "Corporate Welfare".

Folks, if this tax is allowed to go through, it will set a precedent for future corporate businesses in Canada. Don't rule out the newspaper industry lobbying the federal government next to tax your internet to give them "Corporate Welfare" also. If you think that can't happen, just look at what is already happening in Canada with TV. If this tax-fee goes through, I'm going to cancel my Cable and I'll go 100% "Black Market" for my TV viewing. I will never again, pay another dime for Canadian TV.

I have zero love for the Cable and Satellite companies as I know these greedy companies are also ripping me off to no end but ultimately any fee / tax is going to be passed on to me, the consumer and I refuse to pay anymore then what I am already being gouged. I'm fighting back this time and I'm refusing to pay "Corporate Welfare" to these "Private Broadcasters". If this tax passes, I'm going to cancel my cable and go total Black Market for my TV. By the way, where's my bailout?

My contempt for the C.R.T.C. and this current federal government is growing. How dare you try to steal more money out of my pockets like this. This is supposed to be a free market economy. If these private broadcasters can't make it on their own, then it's time to do what every other free market company in Canada has to do in these hard times and that is down size your company or close the damn doors.
