October Project is one of my favourite bands of all time and Funeral in His Heart is one of my favourite songs of them. There was no version with lyrics on youtube yet, so I decided to pay a little tribute and I created this video. I hope you all like it!
October Project is a pop / rock band that was signed to major label Epic Records from March 1993 to June 1996. Their music is often categorized as adult / alternative.
The members of the band during that time were Mary Fahl (lead vocals), Marina Belica (keyboard/vocals), David Sabatino (guitar/vocals), Emil Adler (piano/vocals), and Julie Flanders, the band's lyricist and at the time a non-performing member. Urbano Sanchez, the band's percussionist, is listed as an additional musician on the two albums released by Epic, appearing in all band photos during that period, but was not an official member of the band.
LYRICS
He had a dream
It was haunting him at night
It would fly into his hands
So he tried to cage it
But he only made it fly away
He heard a song
It was running through his mind
It was singing from the past
So he tried to sing it
But he found he could not make it last
The world is falling apart
He's getting older
And there's a funeral in his heart
He was alone
With a picture of his life
On the outside looking in
So he tried to change it
But he lost the person he had been
The world is falling apart
He's getting older
And there's a funeral in his heart
Thunder moving under the mountain
Thunder in his dreams
Hoping that there must be a word for
Everything he means
He had a love
It was keeping him alive
It was someone else ago
So he tried to hide it
But he knew he'd never let it go
The world is falling apart
He's getting older
And there's a funeral in his heart

This was the first song I ever heard from OP and was a disappointed that the rest of their oeuvre couldn't capture the more rock facet of their sound. The tune is perhaps too "pop-y" for most fans of the band but Mary Fahl's more aggressive phrasing in this song was underutilized by the band.
