@blou4now I have to disagree with you on a couple of things. Firstly BB's vibrato didn't exist before he did it. I've never heard a guitarist before him even approach that technique. Sure he owes a lot to a lot of players, but he innovated on the guitar which is saying something. On another note, when EC attributed the song to Elmore James it was because Elmore had reworked the lyrics and the music keeping only the refrain the same. EC's version is a direct cover of that version.

@ANealis - I like the Hound Dog Taylor cover, but this is great too AND it is the original.

@rehcets1 "I think that I have heard this and Sitting On Top of the World each many times, and would not say that they share a melody."
I agree with you entirely.

@rehcets1 "Eric Clapton should be scolded for attributing the song to Elmore James." It all depends.
Did Arsenio Rodríguez originate the mambo? Or was it Pérez Prado? Did Hank Ballard originate the twist? Or was it Chubby Checker? Did The Rivileers originate "A Thousand Stars"? Or was it Kathy Young? Did Willa Mae Thornton originate "Hound Dog"? Or was it Elvis Presley?
The list goes on.
