Hardware: Used an 8-inch diameter plastic cookie jar. Clipped $15 Logitech webcam to a pencil and squeezed pencil firmly to the bottom. Hole cut in jar for the webcam's wire . Covered jar with paper sheet and transparent plastic.
Difficulty: hardware was very easy. Took 5 minutes. Might take some time to try different number of paper sheets or to adjust lighting.
Software: A Java program gets the image from the webcam, transforms and analyzes the image, and determines if the cursor should be not altered, moved, or held down .
Difficulty: Software was a simple 10 page (Arial font size 10, normal margins) program. Simple math algorithms and basic-intermediate knowledge of Java was needed.
*at certain times in the video I used my mouse when precise movement was needed. but everything drawn was done using the touch pad.
