Definitely a MINK. I had one just like it in the early 2000's named DeVille. Too stout to be a ferret. Weasels do turn white in the winter , but have a black-tipped tail and are WAY thinner. Probably escaped from a nearby fur farm since they are almost always chocolate brown in the wild. Unless there are crazy pet mink owners in that area like me. check out Petmink Yahoo Group.
This is a domestic ferret - someone's escaped pet. A mink or weasel wouldn't be so casually strolling infront of a human. Mink are also DARK BROWN and weasels as well. They're also much sleeker than this. You should have caught this little guy and brought him to animal control. Hopefully someone did or he probably died :(
It is awful ferret-like, especially in the "collapsing" moments. Better at jumping, a thicker tail, and a slightly thicker snout than a ferret would make me think that it's a mink. Also, it being near water indicates that it's probably a mink. Maybe not albino -- mink are bred by fur farms for different colors.
