My first time to do a re-upholster project. It was fun doing it. I bought the chair from Goodwill for $10.00 and got the fabric from a discount store at $1.00 per yard. Pictures showed step by step process. I was learning as I go along. Used regular staple gun. Spent under $30.00

  • I have a set of that exact chair! I'm glad you made this video, this will make my summer project of reupholstering them much easier! Do you know an approximation of how much yardage of fabric you used? I want to be able to buy something of quality (because I need to sell my chairs after I'm done fixing them).

  • @BlueToDie I probably used about 6-7 yds. I bought a roll with about 20 yds remaining at a discount so I wasn't conservative on cutting what I needed. Remember that you need to consider the fabric pattern. You can't have some pieces vertical and some horizontal or diagonal. You shoul have a consistent look.

  • Beautiful! HOw did you know how much fabric to buy?

  • @nb342 The fabric was bought on a close out sale. If I have to do it again, I'll just estimate ++, ...you're saving on labor anyways

  • is there a school u go to to learn to reupholster furniture

  • @nino4100 No. Just a do it yourself fan. Just be careful on taking it apart and take down notes...pictures while you're doing it helps....and watch a lot of similar videos from YouTube. Good luck and have fun

  • hey that a filipino song about a man saying he's not gay but for a while his voice changes to a gay one. ahahahhah funny

  • Not too smart -- always insert an intermediary layer of eg, pure linen (doubled is optimal, with a sheet of raw silk between those two layers), below the leather, so as to abet its breathing in both directions, and that minimizes dry rot, odors and helps with weight bearing ie, shifting occupant weight -- a layer of horse hair proves optimal!

  • looks sooo difficult!

  • Did you use and air or an electric staple gun? I have been watching videos and everyone else states you need a super uphosltry power gun.

  • very helpful! i am thinking of reupholstering a similar looking chair...it has the ugliest grandma fabric haha...im a bit scared about it though.

  • You did an awesome job! I started taking the old cover off of my similar wingback chair last February and have purchased all the materials/fabrics to recover it. How long would you say it took to recover the chair once the old cover was off?

  • Do you just need the fabric and a staple gun? did u need a sewing machine?

  • hi!

how did you stitch the corners? I mean how did you sew that tube-like piece in the corners? i can't see it in the video...

    thank you!

    amazing job!!!
